Hannibal man arrested for robbing Chelsea; second suspect still being sought

A Hannibal, Mo., man has been arrested as a suspect in connection with the armed robbery of a Quincy business earlier this month.

Adam E. Morrall, 20, was arrested Tuesday after a joint investigation by the Adams County Sheriff's Department and the Quincy Police Department. Morrall is believed to be one of two people who robbed the Chelsea, an adult theatre and video store, at gunpoint on March 4. According to a press release by Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer, officials are pursuing a warrant for an additional suspect.

Police were called at 11:45 p.m. on March 4 about an armed robbery in progress at the store, located at located at 4804 Gardner Expressway. When police arrived, the suspects had fled south on foot. Clothing believed to have been worn by the men was found south of the business along Ill. 57, according to the Adams County Sheriff's Department.

The store's clerk told police that the two men, each armed with a handgun, were wearing hoodies and bandanas covering their faces as they entered the store. The men pointed their guns at the clerk as they made their way to the cash register, emptied it and left on foot heading south.

According to records with the Lewis County Circuit Clerk, Morrall was arrested on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge in May 2011. He pleaded guilty on Aug. 1, 2011, and was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation.

Morrall is expected to make his first appearance in Adams County Circuit Court on Wednesday.
