Man arrested on stolen property charge

A Quincy man was arrested early Friday morning at 10th and State on suspicion of possession of stolen property.

Investigation into four vehicle burglaries late Thursday night and early Friday morning led to the arrest of Gary Smith, 31, of 939 1/2 Hampshire. He was taken into custody at 3:08 a.m. Friday by officers of the Quincy Police Department. He was lodged in the Adams County Jail.

Stolen items, mostly small items that were in gloveboxes, were recovered. The burglaries occurred from 12th to 14th from Jersey to State, according to police.

Police are suggesting people in this area check their vehicles and if they were burglarized, call the Quincy Police Department at 228-4470.
