HANNIBAL, Mo. -- A 21-year-old man formerly of Joplin, Mo., was taken into custody by Hannibal Police Department in connection with a house fire at 807 Paris Ave. Thursday evening. The man is a resident of a Shinn Residential group home.

All the occupants had exited the house by the time firefighters arrived at the scene, and one person was slightly injured in the blaze, according to the Hannibal Fire Department. The fire was labeled as arson by the state fire marshal.

Authorities placed the man on a 24-hour hold and released him Friday pending further investigation and fire marshal review.
