The Moberly girls soccer team had dominated the North Central Missouri Conference without an equal.

No longer is that the case.

Thursday night, Hannibal ended Moberly's 48-game conference winning streak with a 1-0 victory at Porter Stadium.

Theresa Sheffer's unassisted goal late in the first half proved to be enough for the Lady Pirates (4-0, 3-0 NCMC) to knock off the four-time defending NCMC champion.

Kaitlin Edge posted her fourth shutout of the season in goal.

Galesburg 12, Illini West 2: The Chargers opened play in the Galesburg Invitational by struggling to keep the Silver Streaks from manufacturing runs.

Galesburg had two extra-base hits among its 12 hits, but the Silver Streaks took advantage of two walks, a hit batter and an error in their five-run fifth inning.

Two errors and two walks contributed to a three-run first inning as well.

Braden Bennett went 2 for 3 with a run scored for Illini West, while Colton Mellinger had an RBI single.

Scotland County Triangular: Brice Cowell lshot a 7-over par 41 for Scotland County, which finished second at Timber Ridge Golf Course in Memphis, Mo.

Austin Howes and Dakota Elliot both shot 48s for the Tigers

Putnam County posted a 165 to win the meet, while Scotland County shot a 191.

HLGU d. Saint Xavier: The Trojans closed March with their sixth victory of the month -- double what the team won all of last season -- by beating the Cougars 24-26, 25-21, 25-20, 25-17.

Jake Wollenberg had 14 kills and two blocks for HLGU (9-18), while Zachary Hawkins had 10 kills and nine digs. Kristen Clero had 33 assists, six digs and three aces.
