Roadside check nets seven arrests in Adams County

The Illinois State Police District 20 held a roadside safety check overnight March 15 in Adams County. Officers made seven arrests and wrote 22 warnings. Included in the arrests were three suspected alcohol or drug offenses and one suspected drunken driver.

Roadside safety checks are designed to keep roads safe by taking suspected DUI offenders off the road. Officers may take action when they see other violations, including seat belt violations, invalid registrations and suspended or revoked licenses.

The roadside safety project is funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation's Division of Traffic Safety.
