HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Second-year nursing students at Hannibal-LaGrange University are hosting a volleyball tournament fundraiser and silent auction April 6 that will include an appearance by Miss Missouri.
The deadline to sign up teams is today. The registration fee of $150 will provide T-shirts for a team of up to eight players. The top three finishing teams will receive trophies; the championship team will win back its entry fee.
Proceeds from the event will be used to lower the individual student cost for a review course that prepares students for their final nursing exams. The course costs $350 per student.
The double-elimination tournament will be held at the Mabee Sports Complex on the HLGU campus and will start between 7 and 8 a.m. Each team is guaranteed at least two matches.
Admission to the games is free and open to the public, and food from the Sauced Hog will be served in the concession area. The silent auction will feature assorted items, such as candle gift baskets, Kansas City Royals tickets and a gift from the Kansas City Chiefs.
T-shirts will be available for $10 each.
Teams can register for the tournament by contacting Tina Craven at (573) 549-2592 or 721-5960. More information is available by calling Anne Riggs at (573) 629-3143 or by sending email to email@example.com.
