Christine Schlegl gave the Quincy High School softball team the boost it needed Tuesday.
Schlegl went 2 for 2 at the plate, drove in two runs and limited Springfield to two hits in the Blue Devils' 13-3, six-inning victory at Quincy High School.
The Senators went ahead 2-0 before QHS (1-4) responded with four runs in the bottom of the first to go ahead for good.
Hannah Reller walked to open the inning and stole second.
Paige Owsley reached on an error, advancing Reller to third base. Dani Damon, who finished with three RBIs, doubled to center field, scoring Reller and Owlsey to tie the game.
Johnna Goudschaal then doubled in Damon to put the Blue Devils ahead 3-2. Goudschaal later scored on a single by Kendall McClelland to push the lead to 4-2.
QHS continued to pile up runs, adding two runs in the third and fourth, three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
QND 10, Rushville-Industry 0: Kristen Gengenbacher hit a pair of home runs, and freshman Ashley Wensing tossed a one-hitter as the Lady Raiders won easily at home.
Gengenbacher hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning and added a solo homer in the sixth inning. Aryiel Gengenbacher, Kristen's cousin, had three hits in the game, including a two-run triple in a four-run third inning.
Wensing, a freshman, allowed only a leadoff single in the third inning. She walked one and struck out four.
Liberty 12-5, Unity 8-6: Katy Claus helped the Lady Eagles picked up the win in Game 1 of a West Central Conference South Division doubleheader, pitching all seven innings and allowing six hits.
Ashley Lefringhouse went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Liberty (1-5).
Emily Kendrick doubled for Unity.
Maggie Bowles earned her first win of the year in the second game, striking out three. Breanne Begeman and Blake Huston added doubles for the Lady Mustangs (1-4).
Pittsfield 11-10, Brussels 0-0: Addi Lagemann went 4 for 5 with two triples and five RBIs to power Pittsfield to a win in Game 1.
Courtney Pennock picked up the win, going all six innings and striking out seven.
Mackenzie James went 3 for 4 with two RBIs to help the Lady Saukees win Game 2. Kayla Schacht picked up the win. She pitched all six innings, giving up three hits and striking out four.
Central 3, Payson Seymour 0: Abigail Janssen threw a complete game to lead the Panthers to a WCC South win. She limited Payson to five hits and struck out five.
Amanda Ihrig hit a double for Central (1-0), which recorded just two hits off of Payson starter Skylar Brown.
Illini West 11, Griggsville-Perry 2: The Chargers rapped out 13 hits, including five doubles, to hammer the Lady Tornados.
Elyce Trout had two doubles for Illini West (6-0).
McKenzie Vose had a home run for Griggsville-Perry (4-2).
Palmyra wins match: Palmyra edged Highland 168-171 in a match at Jackson Park Golf Course in Palmyra, Mo.
Trevor Dehaan led the Panthers with a 6-over 41. Hunter Baggett and Mitchell Sutter shot 42s and Blake Hobert had 43.
Highland's Chase Wilson was medalist with a 4-over 39. Teammates Chris Bogguss shot a 42, Robert Cox a 43 and Garrett Anderson a 47.
Hannbial wins quadrangular: Hannibal shot a 1-over 145 to win a quadrangular at Norwoods Golf Club in Hannibal, Mo.
Cody Whiston finished with the top score with a 2-under 34 to lead the Pirates.
Louisiana finished with a team score of 172 and was led by Brendan Ross' 39. South Shelby finished third with a 198 and was led by Josh Ridgley, who shot a 47.
