Quincy Notre Dame cross country runner Elyse Hilotin penned the poem below to express her feeling about the tragedy in Boston. QND cross country coach Josh Sherwood competed in the Boston Marathon, and crossed the finish line before the explosions occurred. Hilotin's poem was shared on the QND Cross Country Team's Facebook page.

Not running from fear
But running for freedom
Head-first into fire
And running with reason

Running for a purpose
Maybe running for dream
We'll always stay ahead
As the world's strongest team

Some try to stand before the finish
To prevent us from going by
But we run through, past adversity
One nation, with heads held high

By the grace of God, we carry on
Our days are spent with vigilance
They may be surprised when we come back again
With liberty, acting judicially, and with resilience

And 26 miles we'll run everyday
26 miles through every attack
26 miles for those we have lost
26 miles without looking back.
