Saturday, April 20, 10 p.m.: The Adams County Emergency Management Agency is requesting assistance from the community Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. to assist with sandbagging efforts at the Gardner Denver plant. Volunteers are asked to report to the sandbagging tent just to the west of Gardner Denver Expressway in the Gardner Denver parking lot. Volunteers should dress appropriately with closed-toe shoes and gloves. U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Peoria, is scheduled to tour the Gardner Denver area at about 4 p.m. The public is invited.
Saturday, April 20: The driver examination testing in Hannibal, Mo., scheduled for Monday will be moved to the Marion County Courthouse in Palmyra due to flooding issues. Testing will be conducted at the Palmyra location from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, April 20, 1 p.m.: IDOT and MoDOT crews closed the Champ Clark Bridge on U.S. 54 over the Mississippi River at Louisiana Saturday morning due to flooding in Illinois. Motorists traveling into Illinois will be detoured over U.S. 61 and 36 to the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge at Hannibal, U.S. 61/24 to the Quincy Bayview Bridge at West Quincy or south to St. Louis. Lighted message signs are being placed on U.S. 36 and 61 at Hannibal, U.S. 61 and 54 near Bowling Green and at Atlas, Ill., to advise motorists of the road closure. Motorists will need to follow the detoured routes or consider other local routes to the Mark Twain Memorial Bridge at Hannibal. Crews will open the road as soon as the water recedes and has been cleared for safe travel.
Friday, April 19, 10 p.m. — MoDOT crews closed Mo. Route 79 at Clarksville due to water over the road. Traffic is being detoured over Routes D and H. Local traffic from the south may use Route H to Route W to enter Clarksville and from the north Route D to Route WW to Route W.
Friday, April 19, 5 p.m. — The National Weather Service has indicated flooding is imminent or occurring in all areas encompassed by Illinois State Police District 14. As of now, U.S. 336 at the McDonough-Hancock County Line is closed.
Friday, April 19, 4:55 p.m. — MoDOT crews closed Mo. 79 south of Hannibal due to water over the road. The road is closed just south of the entrances to Sawyer's Creek and Mark Twain Cave. Motorists traveling southbound on Mo. 79 should detour over Routes T and N to Mo. 79; all commercial vehicles must use U.S. 61 to Business 61 and Route V in New London, then proceed on Routes T and N back to Mo. 79.
Friday, April 19, 4:30 p.m. — The Missouri Department of Transportation reports Route DD in Shelby County is open to traffic at Otter Creek; Route K in Shelby County is open to traffic at Black Creek; and Route A in Monroe County is open to traffic at Crooked Creek.
Friday, April 19, 4:00 p.m. — The Quincy Police Department is reminding motorists to plan extra travel time if you are driving to Missouri and crossing in Quincy. The Memorial Bridge is closed to traffic due to high water, and the Bayview Bridges is now one lane each way. "We have received a few phone calls regarding the long lines of traffic. We cannot solve that issue," Deputy Chief of Admininistrative Services Dennis E. Bingheim said in a press statement. "Traffic will flow best by the use of the traffic signals. Drivers need to be patient and those intending to use the bridge should plan extra time for travel." Memorial Bridge is also closed to pedestrian traffic.
