DANVILLE, Ill. — Quincy Gems right-hander Evan James didn't make it through the second inning Friday night, and the Gems didn't make it home with a victory.

The Danville Dans chased James after he failed to retire any of the first six batters of the second inning and cruised to an 11-2 Prospect League victory at Danville Stadium.

James allowed five runs, four hits, two walks and two wild pitches in one-plus innings of work. The Dans scored at least one run in each of the firsty three innings, then put the game away with a five-run eighth inning. Meanwhile, the Gems were held scoreless until plating two runs in the sixth inning.

Thomas Richards went 2 for 3 with a run scored as the Gems were held to six hits — all singles.

The Gems (9-5) return to QU-Stadium Saturday to take on the Hannibal Cavemen at 6:35 p.m.
