LaDarion Shelby made a huge impact on how the Quincy University football finished last season.

Everyone seems to have noticed, especially those outside of the program.

Shelby, a senior running back from Decatur, Ill., was one of five Hawks named to the 25th annual USA College Football NCAA Division II preseason All-America teams.

Shelby was a third-team All-America selection after rushing for 733 yards and seven touchdowns last fall when the Hawks won two of their final three games and three of their final five.

He was a second-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference selection last year after QU went 3-5 in conference play.

Four other QU players — senior wide receiver Justin Dickens, senior defensive linemen Tyler Reidl and Cory Connolly and junior linebacker Zach Vath — received preseason honorable mention honors.
