Missouri roundup: Palmyra heats up late, romps Brookfield

Case Doyle took advantage of his opportunities to touch the ball Friday night.

He caught two touchdown passes -- a 1-yard toss from Brock Butler in the second quarter and a 30-yard pass from Jordan Nutt in the fourth -- to help Palmyra beat Brookfield 35-7 and move one step closer to winning the Clarence Cannon Conference title. Doyle finished with three catches for 49 yards.

Palmyra (7-0, 7-0) hasn't won a CCC title since 199 and it remains a game ahead of Centralia (6-1, 6-1) with two weeks remaining in the regular season.

Caleb Kizer and Butler added touchdown runs for Palmyra, while Nutt returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown. Palmyra led 15-7 at halftime.

The Panthers churned out 313 rushing yards and finished with 367 total yards. Brookfield (5-2, 4-3) finished with 223 yards.

Monroe City 55, Louisiana 34: The Panthers dominated the Bulldogs on the ground in a CCC victory at Monroe City, Mo.

Louisiana had no answer for Tariq Garner, who rushed for 389 yards and four touchdowns on 27 carries. Cody Porter added 110 rushing yards and a touchdown on nine carries.

Monroe City (2-5, 2-5) finished with 562 rushing yards and 609 total yards.

Scotland County 41, Knox County 26: Chris Jackson scored three touchdowns to help the Tigers win a Tri-Rivers Conference game at Edina, Mo.

Jackson finished with 108 yards on seven carries, while teammate Cordie Kigar led the way with 168 rushing yards on 35 carries. Scotland County (4-3, 3-1) rushed for 385 yards as a team.

Will McRobert added 110 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries for Scotland County.

Donovan Edwards led Knox County (2-5, 1-3) with 96 yards on 18 carries, while Brody Moubry carried the ball 12 times for 92 yards.

Putnam County 46, North Shelby 12: The Raiders took an early lead but it didn't last in a TRC loss at Shelbyville, Mo.

John Arnett put North Shelby on the scoreboard with a 68-yard touchdown run with 4 minutes, 39 seconds left in the first quarter. The Midgets scored 40 unanswered points before Jacob Rich threw a 62-yard scoring pass to Dalton Brumbaugh with 8:35 left in the third quarter.

Arnett finished with 110 rushing yards, while the Raiders (0-7, 0-3) had 283 total yards.

Macon 49, Mark Twain 0: The Tigers allowed three first-quarter touchdowns in a CCC loss at Center, Mo.

Mark Twain (0-7, 0-7) finished with 156 yards, including 81 on the ground.
