Woman killed, 11-year-old injured in accident near New London

NEW LONDON, Mo. -- A Hannibal woman was killed and an 11-year-old boy injured in a car-truck accident at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday on U.S. 61 at Route A in Ralls County.

Alice M. Wisdom, 32, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:20 p.m. by Ralls County Sheriff Gerry Dinwiddie.

Alexander C. Daly of Hannibal was taken by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera driven by Wisdom was eastbound on Route A when it failed to yield and pulled into the path of a southbound 2011 Ford F250 on U.S. 61 driven by Howard D. Harrell, 59, of Wentzville. The accident was near the Abel's Quik Stop at New London.

Assisting were the Ralls County Sheriff's Department and New London Fire Department.

This is the 22nd fatality this year in the patrol's 16-county area.
