About 2,000 runners and walkers started Thanksgiving morning getting in some fitness before the holiday feast during the Quincy Family YMCA's 34th annual Turkey Run.

In this photo, runners head west on Maine Street as the event gets under way at 30th and Maine.

The family-oriented run and walk, which attracts a wide range of age groups, and has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. Proceeds from the Turkey Run benefit youth programs at the YMCA.
