Prep soccer roundup: Lady Pirates rally late to pick up NCMC victory

Trailing by a goal with 13 minutes to play in Monday's North Central Missouri game, the Hannibal girls soccer team finished with a flurry.

The Lady Pirates scored three goals in the closing stretch to beat Kirksville 3-1 at Veterans Field in Hannibal, Mo.

Bri Johnson scored an unassisted goal in the 67th minute to tie the game. She then assisted on the next two goals -- the go-ahead goal by Makenzie Morris in the 76th minute and the clincher by Raylynn Charlton in the final minute of regulation.

Kirksville took a 1-0 lead when Kallie Holte scored an unassisted goal 13 minutes into the game.

"After that, (Kirksville) sat back and played a lot of defense," Hannibal coach Eric Hill said. "We missed a couple of point-blank opportunities just before Bri scored. That really opened things up for us."

The Lady Pirates (8-5-1, 7-0) outshot the Lady Tigers 22-6.

Quincy Notre Dame 10, Beardstown 0: The Lady Raiders used balanced scoring in the road victory.

Eight different players scored for QND, with Cassidy Foley and Hannah Thomas scoring two goals apiece. The Lady Raiders led 7-0 at halftime and outshot Beardstown 35-0.

Julie Rabe recorded her sixth shutout this season for QND (7-1-1).

Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 2, Quincy High School 0: The Blazers broke a scoreless tie in the 48th minute and scored 10 minutes later to build an insurmountable lead,

The Blue Devils (5-7) managed just six shots on goal, while QHS keeper Anna Stock made four saves.
