Louisiana boys dominate field at Cunningham Invitational

LOUISIANA, Mo. Tristan Castiglia took home four gold medals to help the Louisiana boys track and field team win the 12-team Cunningham Invitational Saturday on its home track.

Castiglia won two individual events the high jump in 6 feet, 2 inches and the triple jump in 43-83/4.

Castiglia teamed up with Daylon Greene, Brycen Cropp and Elijah Oblinger to win the 4x200-meter relay in 1 minute, 34.80 seconds. R.J. Branham, Abricion Ivey and Gabe Henderson won the 4x100 relay in 46.18.

Greene and Cropp also won two individual events each. Greene won the 200 in 23.28 and the 400 in 51.46, while placing second in the 100 in 11.52.

Cropp won the long jump in 20-71/2 and the 300 intermediate hurdles in 42.39. Teammate Brandon Holland won the shot put in 47-63/4.

Louisiana scored 163 points to outdistance second-place North Shelby (103) and third-place Pittsfield (75).

Garrett Clark won two individual events to lead North Shelby. He won the 1,600 in 4:57.54 and the 3,200 in 10:57. Clark, Jared Trenhaile, Houston Bichsel and Andy Killen won the 3,200 relay in 8:42.92.

North Shelby was also helped by John Arnett, who won the 100 in 11.47, and Trenhaile, who won the 800 in 2:08.04.

Kit Mefford, Matthew Robinson, Joseph Pursley and Traye Labby gave Pittsfield a victory in the 4x400 relay in 3:44.45.

Tyler Elledge of Mark Twain won the 110 high hurdles in 15.81 and Chase Morrow of South Shelby won the pole vault in 11-0.

Louisiana was the top-finishing area girls team, placing third with 76 points.

Macon won the meet with 90 points and Columbia Father Tolton was second with 78.

The Lady Bulldogs won four events, with Denise Blackwell figuring in three of those.

Blackwell won the 300 low hurdles in 47.27 and the high jump in 4-8. She ran on the 4x200 relay team which won in 1:51.72 and also included Batrice Blackwell, Anita Lawson and Emily Love.

Batrice Blackwell also won the triple jump in 34-61/4.

Mark Twain was fourth with 72 points but had only one winner -- Kyley Barnes captured the shot put in 37-8.

Rachelle Chinn of South Shelby won three events. Chinn won the 800 in 2:39.28 and the 1,600 in 5:42.37, while teaming up with Kylie Tillitt, Kaylie Tillitt and Cassidy Johnston to win the 4x800 relay in 10:38.84.

Cady Klatt of Pittsfield won the long jump in 15-53/4. Jaylee Clements, Allie Hoover, Shelby Mehsling and Klatt won the 4x400 relay in 4:32.96.

South Shelby and Pittsfield tied for sixth place with 49 points apiece.
