Deacon Harry and Cindy Cramer of 700 Meadow Lark Drive marked their 40th wedding anniversary by renewing their marriage vows Saturday in St. Anthony Catholic Church, followed by a private reception. The celebration was hosted by their children.
Mr. and Mrs. Cramer were married June 7, 1974, in St. Mary Catholic Church.
Mrs. Cramer, the former Cynthia M. "Cindy" Cook, is a daughter of the late Frank B. Cook and Joan Spettnagel Cook of Quincy. Mr. Cramer is a son of the late Harry M. Cramer and the late Edna H. Cane Cramer Haxel, and a stepson of the late Art J. Haxel.
They are the parents of Matthew J. Cramer and his wife, Tara, of O'Fallon and Colleen M. Rogers and her husband, Dr. Tom, of Iowa City, Iowa. They have five grandchildren.
Mr. Cramer is assistant professor of criminal justice at Quincy University, having retired as deputy police chief from the Quincy Police Department. He began his law enforcement career with the Adams County Sheriff's Department and was a member of the Major Case Investigation Division. He is an ordained deacon in the Catholic church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks, International Chiefs of Police, Illinois Chiefs of Police, National Academy Alumni Association and is a volunteer chaplain at Blessing Hospital.
Mrs. Cramer is a school social worker with the Quincy Public Schools. She began her social work career at Catholic Charities and worked for the Family Services of Adams County Agency, now Cornerstone. She is a member of the Ladies of the Blue Knights and is active in church activities.
They are members of St. Anthony Catholic Church and are involved with Quincy Cursillo and Great River Teens Encounter Christ.
