Lindy and Barbara Edwards of 740 Edgewood Drive have observed their 65th wedding anniversary. They celebrated with a family trip to Cannon Dam Lake with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Edwards and the former Barbara Dexter were married July 3, 1949, in her parents' home near Martinsburg.

Mrs. Edwards is a daughter of the late Theo and Opal Dexter. Mr. Edwards is a son of the late Edith Edwards, formerly of Pleasant Hill.

They are the parents of Ralph Edwards of Harlingen, Texas, and Linda Turnbeaugh of Quincy. They have three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Edwards, an electrician, was a mechanical engineer at Quincy High School for 15 years, retiring in December 1989.

Mrs. Edwards, a homemaker, volunteered for many years in the Blessing Hospital Tea Room and is a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

They were the owners of Bobbie's Soft Creme Shop in Nebo for many years, before retiring and moving to Quincy.

Through the years, they have been world travelers until health problems prevented them from doing so.

They were friends from the small town of Pleasant Hill before their marriage.
