Colorado attorney, formerly of Loraine, drowns in Lake of Ozarks

LAKE OF OZARKS, Mo. -- A Colorado attorney, formerly of Loraine, Ill., drowned when he fell off the back of a pontoon at 4:25 p.m. Friday at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Justin A. Byrd, 30, of Englewood, Colo., was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hunter Funeral Home in Mendon, Ill., is handling arrangements.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's Water Patrol Division reported that Byrd fell off the back of a Premier pontoon boat. He was submerged for five minutes before others realized he was missing. The pontoon was anchored with numerous other boats near Grand Glaize Arm of the Anderson Hollow Cove.
