Geneva man charged with wife's murder

Posted: Updated:

GENEVA, Ill. (AP) - A Geneva man has been charged with murdering his wife and leaving her body alongside nearby railroad tracks.

The Kane County State's Attorney's office says 47-year-old Shadwick King is facing two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his 32-year-wife, Kathleen King.

Geneva police say that Shadwick King suffocated his wife in the morning of July 6 at their home. A Metra Rail conductor later that morning reported seeing a female body along the Union Pacific Railway tracks a short distance away.

Police said Kathleen King was dead when they arrived.

Shadwick King has not yet entered a plea. The Kane County Public Defender's office is representing him but did not immediately provide comment.

King is scheduled to appear in court July 23.
