Edward and Beatrice Blickhan

Edward H. and Beatrice J. Blickhan of 922 N. 2100th Ave., Ursa, will mark their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass of thanksgiving at 7:30 a.m. July 22 in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. They also will be honored with a private party. The celebration will be hosted by their sons and granddaughters.

Mr. Blickhan and the former Beatrice Hoffman were married July 25, 1964, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Quincy.

Mrs. Blickhan is a daughter of the late Harvey J. and Virginia M. Hoffman. Mr. Blickhan is a son of the late Edward B. and Hilda Blickhan.

They are the parents of Daniel E. Blickhan of Memphis, Tenn., and Dennis J. Blickhan of Ursa. They have two grandchildren.

Mr. Blickhan was a farmer in the Ursa and Missouri areas before his retirement. He is a Korean War veteran and went on the Honor Flight in June 2012. He enjoys hunting, fishing and camping.

Mrs. Blickhan retired from State Street Bank and Trust Co. in Quincy.

They are members of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon and enjoy their family and granddaughters' activities.

The Blickhans were introduced at the Blickhan cabin on the Mississippi River by his brother.

It had been several years since Baker, an all-stater as a senior at Pittsfield High School, had seen the game. "I sure was awful skinny, and those shorts were awful short," he said with a laugh. "But it was neat to watch. It's kind of a blur, but I can remember plays that were called in every game. It's so surreal."
