Duane and Pam Shaffer

Duane and Pam Shaffer of 301 Leona Lane, Ursa, will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Lake of the Ozarks with their children and grandchildren. The celebration will be hosted by their children.

Mr. Shaffer and the former Pamela Niekamp were married July 20, 1974, in St. Edward Church.

Mrs. Shaffer is a daughter of Faye Niekamp Orr of Quincy and the late Howard "Howdy" Niekamp. Mr. Shaffer is a son of the late Vern and Leona Shaffer.

They are the parents of Nicole and Kevin Schaffnit of Mendon and Dr. Maria and Jason Connoyer and Tom and Janel Shaffer, all of Ursa. They have eight grandchildren.

Mr. Shaffer is owner of Shaffer Enterprises LLC in Ursa. He is a member of the Ursa Lions Club and enjoys relaxing at the Lake of the Ozarks and traveling.

Mrs. Shaffer recently retired as executive director of the American Red Cross, serving West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri. She is a volunteer at the Hospitality House, American Red Cross, Illinois Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster and the Tri-State Regional Chapter of Association Fundraising Professionals.

They are members of St. Peter Catholic Church in Quincy and enjoy supporting their grandchildren in their various activities.
