Quincy man arrested on theft charge after marina incident

A Quincy man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a boat theft at Art Keller Marina on Sunday.

Carol Pflantz reported that her 26-foot Maxum 2800SCR boat was taken from Art Keller Marina on Quinsippi Island around 6 a.m. Sunday. The boat was found unoccupied and trapped against the Memorial Bridge near the Missouri side of the river at 8:40 a.m. There was damage to the boat's fiberglass canopy and hull. The boat was towed back to the marina.

According to a Quincy Police Department news release, Casey J. Mayes, 22, 1110 N. Seventh, was arrested for the incident.

Mayes was charged with theft over $500. He is being held in the Adams County Jail pending his first court appearance.

According to Adams County Circuit Clerk records, Mayes is currently serving probation in a 2013 felony case. He was sentenced to 24 months probation Oct. 7 after he pleaded guilty to aggravated driving under the influence and possession of stolen vehicle charges in connection with a Feb. 16, 2013, incident.
