Five injured when car runs off road in Pike County, Mo.

PIKE COUNTY, Mo. -- Five people were injured at 6:15 a.m. Friday in a one-vehicle accident on Pike County Road 41, north of U.S. 54 in Pike County.

Matthew J. Myer, 21, and his passengers -- Lorrin H. Christensen, 20, Elizabeth K. Dopp, 22, and Devan R. Schuckenbrock 21, all of Bowling Green, and Taylor R. Arndt, 20, of Center -- were injured.

Christensen and Schuckenbrock were airlifted to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis for treatment of serious injuries. The others were taken by Pike County and Van Far ambulances to Pike County Memorial Hospital in Louisiana for treatment of moderate injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1989 Ford LTD was northbound when it traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. No one was wearing a seat belt, police said.
