Sonny and Kathy Laird

Sonny and Kathy Laird of 1223 N. 10th are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with family on Mark Twain Lake.

They were married Aug. 1, 1964, in St. Mary Catholic Church.

Mrs. Laird is the former Kathy Rakers, daughter of the late Herbert and Norma Rakers. Mr. Laird is a son of the late Sonny and Vanita Laird.

They are the parents of Sonny (Dawn) Laird Jr. of Murrista, Calif., Julie (Brad) Cassens of Loraine and Jane (Ken) Clark of Springfield. They have seven grandchildren.

Mr. Laird retired from Gardner Denver, and retired as a chief petty officer in the Navy.

Mrs. Laird retired from the Quincy Public Schools Transportation Department. She enjoys winters in Florida, camping, and spending time with their grandchildren attending all their various sporting activities.

They are members of St. Peter Catholic Church.

The Lairds were high school sweethearts.
