Biodiesel, ethanol promotion planned Friday in Carthage

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- The Hancock County Farm Bureau and West Central FS are teaming up again to promote biodiesel and ethanol.

The 12th annual promotion will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, at the Fuel 24 station on U.S. 136 west of Carthage. Fuel will be sold at a discount during the event.

Local celebrities will be on hand to help with pumping fuel and washing windshields. Free hot dogs, chips and soda will be available.

During the 2013 promotion, representatives from the Farm Bureau and West Central FS pumped a total of 1,349 gallons of biofuels -- 752 gallons of ethanol and 597 gallons of biodiesel.
