Celebrating 60 years of marriage (Nov. 5, 1949)

Lester and Agnes Baker of Quincy have observed their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married Nov. 5, 1949, in Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church in Quincy.

Mrs. Baker is a daughter of the Late Henry and Marie Westermeyer of Bluffs. Mr. Baker is a son of the late Fred and Dora Baker of Fall Creek Township.

They are the parents of Michael Baker of Georgia. They have two grandchildren.

The Bakers resided in Quincy for a period of four years immediately following their marriage where she was a secretary at Gates Radio and he was employed by the Electric Wheel Co. Mr. Baker farmed in Fall Creek Township from 1954 until his retirement in 2004 and raised livestock, grain and hay. Mrs. Baker assisted the farming operation as a bookkeeper and homemaker.

The Bakers enjoy their membership in Bluff Hall EFCA Church and have been active in leadership positions in the church throughout their long membership.

Mrs. Baker was an active quilter and enjoyed bowling for many years. They both stay active in retirement with vegetable gardening, fellowship with family and friends, and occasional travel.
