The engagement of Dena Korte and Scott Dedert, both of 600 S. 22nd, has been announced by their parents. She is a daughter of Wayne and Linda Korte of Pocahontas. He is a son of Wayne and Bev Dedert of 7408 N. 68th St.

The bride-elect graduated in 2002 from Highland High School in Highland and in 2006 from Western Illinois University. She is a human resources generalist at Blessing Hospital.

The prospective bridegroom graduated in 2002 from Unity High School in Mendon and in 2007 from WIU. He is a landscape designer at Bergman Nurseries.

A Feb. 2 wedding is planned in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
