Quincy Civic Music Association to present symphonic organist Frederick Hohman Thursday at St. John's Church
Published: 11/15/2009 | Updated: 11/22/2009

Frederick Hohman will perform a concert at St. John's Church, 701 Hampshire, presented by the Quincy Civic Music Association at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Frederick Hohman specializes in symphonic organ transcriptions of music of the great symphonic repertoire, and symphonic music composed just for the pipe organ. Instead of using a full orchestra, symphonic organ performers play transcriptions of orchestral classical works arranged for the pipe organ.

Hohman has produced over 200 organ and choral CDs, working with a variety of both new and established artists. He produced a TV series about pipe organs and organists entitled Midnight Pipes which aired on public TV.

Don't miss this spine-tingling, comedic and delightful performance by one of America's premier organists. Tickets are available in advance for $15 at Brown Drug, Quincy Steamboat, Wild Birds Unlimited, the Mustard Seed, Great Debate Books and in Hannibal at Java Jive. Tickets at the door will be $17. Elementary through high school students are admitted free. Most college students also receive free admission.
