Annual dinner, Adams County beef queen contest and awards to be held Jan. 24 in Liberty

The Adams County Beef Producers 33rd annual dinner, Adams County Beef Auxiliary Queen Contest and 4-H exhibitor awards will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 in St. Brigid Catholic Church Hall in Liberty.

Three are competing for the title of 2009 Adams County Beef Queen. The winner will receive a $500 college scholarship and various gifts.

The contestants are Halie Brinkman of Coatsburg, Sarah Sprague of Plainville and Sierra N. Thompson of Liberty. The reigning queen is Cheyenne Starman of Camp Point, the daughter of Gary and Marilyn Starman.

Brinkman, 16, is the daughter of Doug and Laurie Brinkman and attends Central High School.

Sprague, 16, is the daughter of Melvin and Susan Sprague and attends Seymour High School at Payson.

Thompson, 17, is the daughter of Greg and Theresa Thompson and attends Liberty High School.

Businesses and individuals who bought market animals at the 2008 4-H steer sale will be recognized. They are:
