Auditions open for holiday murder mystery

Stage Left Productions will hold auditions for the holiday comedy murder mystery "If She Did It" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Backwaters (enter through back door)

Parts are available for woman and men ages 18 to 80, including someone to impersonate Dr. Phil McGraw.

Show dates are Dec. 12-13.

Culver-Stockton choirs to perform Nov. 1

The Culver-Stockton College Chamber, Concert and Collegiate choirs will join to perform a work by Antonio Vivaldi for the second annual Masterworks Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium in the Robert W. Brown Performing Arts Center.

Vivaldi is known as one of the greatest composers of the high Baroque era. The massed choirs will perform one of his best known works, "Gloria in D." The choirs will be accompanied by an orchestra comprised of regional Quincy Symphony Orchestra players.

Faculty showcased in biennial exhibit at C-SC

Culver-Stockton College will showcase art by faculty members in the free Biennial Faculty Exhibition Nov. 5-Dec. 18, in the Mabee Art Gallery in the Herrick Foundation Center on campus.

This year's show will include pottery and books of poetry by Al Beck, professor of art emeritus; digital photography by Joe Jorgenson, professor of art; printmaking by Robert Kennon, associate professor of art; paintings by Jennifer Bock-Nelson, adjunct faculty in art; and paintings by Pat Kerns, adjunct faculty in art.

An opening reception will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, with a gallery talk at 7:30 p.m.

Students to compete for acting scholarship

Culver-Stockton College students Zach Martin and Beau Becraft have been nominated to compete for the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship of the Kennedy Center for American College Theatre Festival for their performances in "Greater Tuna."

Becraft is a junior communications major from Memphis, Mo. Martin is a senior arts management major from Decatur, Ill.

They will be joining five other C-SC students in competing for the Ryan scholarship: Nick Johnson, freshman theatre major from Fieldon, Ill.; Jerica Exum, junior arts management major from Chicago, Ill.; Whitney Colston, junior musical theatre major from Neosho, Mo.; Travis Dahlhauser, junior speech and theatre education major from Rockford, Ill.; and Nicole Herrington (Class of 2009), history and theatre major from Quincy, Ill.

JACKSONVILLE

Halloween concert
has a spooky theme

The Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra will present "A Halloween Spooktacular" on Saturday as the second performance in the 2009-2010 concert season.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Rammelkamp Chapel on the campus of Illinois College in Jacksonville. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased in advance at Festival Foods or at the door. Students are admitted free with a valid ID.
