National Coffee Party movement comes to Quincy
Published: 3/12/2010 | Updated: 6/2/2010

A Quincy chapter of National Coffee Party USA will hold a meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday in Washington Perk, 428 Maine.

Roger K. Davis of Quincy said he ran across the coffee party's Web site last week and was asked by organizers elsewhere in the United States whether he wanted to start a chapter in Quincy.

"They don't care what party you're from as long as you're civil with each other and try to work out the problems ... and end the stalemate in government," Davis said.

The Coffee Party USA Web site says the movement gives voice to Americans who want to see cooperation in government.

"We recognize that the federal government is not the enemy of the people, but the expression of our collective will and that we must participate in the democratic process in order to address the challenges," he said.

Davis said a meeting March 27 will be organized to collect information from people about their top issues. The information will be used to establish a platform for the party movement.

Davis is a Green Party candidate for Congress in the 17th District.
