A Quincy man was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury on a weapons charge.
David A. Ladd, 36, was arrested in Quincy by Adams County Sheriff's deputies on Aug. 28 on charges of felon in possession of a weapon.
Ladd faces up to 10 years in federal prison if convicted. He was originally charged in Quincy with felon in possession of a weapon and possession of a stolen weapon, but the charges will be dropped.
The indictment alleges Ladd possessed a .22 caliber Sturm, Ruger and Co. pistol.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Chesley is prosecuting the case under the Department of Justice's Project Safe Neighborhood program with the cooperation of the Adams County State's Attorney's office.
Ladd also has a felony damage to government property charge pending in Quincy.
