Stopping stress has to start at the top
Published: 10/31/2009 | Updated: 11/8/2009

To The Herald-Whig:

Stress.

Where did it come from? I don't remember any stress growing up in the '40's, '50's or '60's and times were tougher then than they are now. So where did it come from.

Could it have come from companies, businesses, municipalities, etc. deciding that they didn't want to replace workers who retired, quit or were laid off for one reason or the other and decided to pass along that workload to everyone else without an increase in pay? What happens -- stress.

Your employer wants to do more, or at least the same, with fewer workers. Your employer wants to offer you less in incentives for doing more work. You, in turn, expect your family to do more and that causes them stress as well.

That is my guess and if you look back at when it all started, I think you might agree with me.

If we want to stop stress in the workplace and at home, it is going to have to start at the top.

Does this make sense? It does to me.
