Open-minded tolerance would be good for all
Published: 11/4/2009 | Updated: 11/11/2009

To The Herald-Whig:

It was refreshing to recently see a few letters on the opinion page of the Herald-Whig that did not bash the President of the United States.

It appears that many who chose the other guy have spent numerous hours at their computers writing letters and articles and sending e-mails that pick apart every tiny little detail of Barack Obama's life in a pitifully weak effort to degrade him. It will be a long four or eight years for them.

Over time these efforts have become repetitious, tiresome, and uninteresting -- and I doubt very much if they have changed any minds, unless it was to chase away some who formerly were supporters. The word overkill comes to mind.

It's disturbing to think that independent voters may be the only ones who can see both sides. Obviously, it's impossible for all the good guys to be in one party and all the bad ones in the other. There are enough of both to go around. And a little open-minded tolerance would be a powerful plus for all of us.
