A hearing to decide if the murder trial of Christopher Piersee will be moved from Lewis County was continued this morning.
The hearing was postponed to Aug. 6 because attorneys are still waiting on psychiatric evaluations.
Judge Richard Steele will likely approve motions by both Prosecuting Attorney Jake DeCoster and defense attorneys David Clayton and Todd Scholze of the state public defender's office in Hannibal to move the trial.
Piersee, 24, pleaded not guilty in May to charges that he murdered his wife and 5-month-old son in February. He is accused of killing Patricia Yarbrough Piersee, 21, and Landon Piersee on Feb. 3 in their LaGrange home.
If convicted of murdering his wife, who was shot once in the forehead, Piersee could get the death penalty or life in prison. He could get up to life in prison if found guilty of killing his son, who died of blunt force trauma to the head.
