BETHEL, Mo. -- A Waverly, Ill., man who is a registered sex offender is being sought by Missouri authorities in connection with a shooting at 11:39 a.m. Friday on Mo. 15 north of Bethel.
Police said Patrick J. McIntire, 41, is to be considered armed and dangerous. He is a registered child sex offender in Illinois. He was convicted in the late 1990s of aggravated criminal sexual abuse with a victim who was 14 years old in Macoupin County, according to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry.
McIntire faces felony charges for first-degree domestic assault with serious physical injury. The victim is a former girlfriend, and police said she was taken to Samaritan Hospital in Macon for treatment after the shooting.
No report of her condition was available late Friday night.
Charges have been filed by Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney James McConnell, and an arrest warrant with a $100,00 cash-only bond has been issued. The case is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Shelby County Sheriff's Department.
McIntire was still at large late Friday.
