Published: 11/3/2009 | Updated: 11/11/2009

A 60-year-old knife-wielding woman barricaded herself in her apartment at 9:48 p.m. Monday after threatening a man in the hallway of an apartment complex in the 700 block of North Fifth, police said.

The man, who is in his late 20s or early 30s, was not injured.

When nearly two hours of negotiating by police failed to get the woman out of the apartment, officers forced their way in and took the woman into custody.

The woman was taken to Blessing Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. The knife was recovered.
