Quincy motorcyclist injured trying to avoid deer in Palmyra, Mo.

PALMYRA, Mo. -- A Quincy, Ill., man was injured in a motorcycle crash as he tried to avoid a deer on Friday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that Karl Mickelson, 63, of Quincy, was driving a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Route C, about five miles west of Palmyra, at about 6 a.m. Friday when he swerved to miss a deer.

The motorcycle went off the road and Mickelson was ejected.

Mickelson was transported by private vehicle to Hannibal Regional Hospital after the crash.
