HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. -- The Quincy University women's soccer team let its defense earn the right to play for a Great Lakes Valley Conference championship for the first time since 1995.

Brittany Casey scored in the 60th minute and QU keeper Toni Eye made two key saves as the Lady Hawks beat 20th-ranked Bellarmine 1-0 Friday in the semifinals of the GLVC Tournament at Northern Kentucky.

QU (14-4-1) will face No. 10 Northern Kentucky on its home turf in the Sunday's noon title match. The Lady Norse beat the Lady Hawks 2-1 during the regular season.

The teams combined for just seven shots in the first half before Casey got loose in the 60th minutes and scored off an assist from Megan Schwermer.

Eye and the defense made the lead stand as the Knights were limited to seven shots total, and two chances were deflected with around three minutes to play.

It was Eye's 11th shutout of the season.
