Keaton Baker made two free throws with four seconds left as the Western boys basketball team outscored West Hancock 21-8 in the fourth quarter to earn a 47-45 victory in a non-conference game Thursday night in Warsaw.
The Wildcats (9-4) trailed 37-26 entering the fourth quarter, but Tyler Harris sparked his team's comeback by scoring 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter.
The Titans (9-3), who saw their three-game winning streak end, made just four of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter and just eight of 21 in the game.
Will Carr led the Titans with 12 points in the loss, which snapped West Hancock's three-game winning streak.
Liberty 62, Pleasant Hill 43: The Eagles added to their seven-point halftime lead by outscoring the Wolves 27-16 in the third quarter. Liberty sophomore Eric Barry had 18 points to lead the Eagles (8-4) to the win. Evan Borrowman led the Wolves (1-9) with 15 points.
Southeastern 53, Illini West 43: Regan Bruenger scored 17 points to pace Southeastern (11-3). Jacob Schmudlach led Illini West (4-6) with 22 points.
Clopton Tournament: The Quincy Notre Dame junior varsity knocked off Elsberry's varsity 62-33 in a semifinal game. The Raiders play O'Fallon Christian at 8:30 p.m. Saturday for the title.
Anthony Bruns had 16 points to lead QND. Connor Cramsey had 11 and Kramer Barnes chipped in with 10 points. On Tuesday, eighth-seeded QND knocked off top-seeded Silex 78-54.
& quot;After (Tuesday's) game, one of the Silex players grabbed us and said, 'That's not a true JV team,' & quot; QND junior varsity coach Kevin Meyer said.
All members of the QND JV squad are freshmen and sophomores.
In the consolation semifinals, Wright City beat Louisiana 70-62. Louisiana (3-5) was led by Tanner Ray's 13 points and Justin Walker with 10.
Brashear 65, Marion County 40: Brashear held the winless Mustangs to just five points in the second quarter and won easily. Nathan Wikowsky led Marion County (0-6) with 12 points.
MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL
Columbia 91, Hannibal-LaGrange 55: The Trojans trailed by 32 points at halftime and lost an American Midwest Conference game on the road. Mark Schmechtig led the Trojans with 17 points.
