Last meeting: Sept. 26, 2015 – Southwest Baptist 56, QU 33. Hawks quarterback Nick Lonergan threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns, but the QU defense couldn't stop the Bearcats' Bubba Jenkins, who rushed for 258 yards and five touchdowns in Bolivar, Mo.
Scouting the Bearcats: For only the fourth time in program history, Southwest Baptist received votes in the NCAA Division II national poll after beating Indianapolis 41-37 last week. The Bearcats rank in the top 20 nationally in six offensive categories, including total offense and third-down conversions. It's the versatility on offense that is leading to success. Junior running back Bubba Jenkins is averaging 148.7 yards rushing per game, which is fifth nationally, while sophomore quarterback TJ Edwards is 11th in the country in total offense and 12th in passing efficiency. The Bearcats are averaging 40.3 points and 525.3 yards per game.
Scouting the Hawks: Off to its best start since 1993, Quincy will continue to lean on a balanced offense that should get an extra boost this week with the return of junior tailback Chris Harris. The team's leading rusher each of the past two seasons, Harris missed the first three games with an injury but is expected to take some of the load off freshman running back Jaylan James. Dominique Bobo, a redshirt freshman running back who transferred from Valparaiso, is expected to see his first action as well. Defensively, the Hawks are allowing just 50 yards rushing per game and opponents are converting just 21.6 percent on third down.
