United Community aquires Liberty Bank based in Alton

CHATHAM, Ill. -- United Community Bancorp Inc. announced Tuesday it has completed the acquisition of Liberty Bank, based in Alton.

The addition of Liberty Bank, founded in 1994, adds $321 million in assets to UCB, bringing the company's total assets to more than $2.5 billion. UCB now has more than 45 banks in 32 communities throughout Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri. With the acquisition, UCB has more than 600 employees.

"Our banks are community banks that are dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each community we serve with the collective strength and resources of our much larger company," said Robert A. Narmont, UCB chairman and CEO.

UCB's holdings include United Community Bank, of Chatham; Mercantile Bank, of Quincy; Marine Bank & Trust, of Carthage; Brown County State Bank, of Mount Sterling; Springfield's Illini Bank; and Farmers State Bank of Camp Point.
