When will the bridge over Cedar Creek on 24th Street be open? The progress seems to be marginal. Will delays move the open date into winter or even spring?

We went by the construction site this week, and work was continuing.

The Illinois Department of Transportation's road construction map says the bridge just north of Wismann Lane should be closed to all traffic until Nov. 10.

County Contractors Inc. of Quincy started work on the new $1.16 million bridge Aug. 14. It is replacing a bridge that was built in 1935.

The project includes extending the bridge to accommodate the future expansion of the Bill Klingner Trail.

Drivers who regularly motor on North 24th between Wismann and Koch's lanes will need to find alternative routes.
