QUINCY -- The Tri-State Job Connection is an event John Wood Community College President Mike Elbe feels can open a lot of eyes.
"An event like this shows people the opportunities that exist in this community," Elbe said.
JWCC is hosting the Tri-State Job Connection 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the school's Student Activity Center at the 48th and Harrison campus.
A job fair by design, the experience is targeting area college and high school students and is sponsored by JWCC and Quincy University.
Those attending will have an opportunity to meet potential employers and have on-the-spot interviews with businesses that need to fill full- or part-time positions.
"We're trying to assist the (job-finding) process," Elbe said.
Among vendors with open positions that will be attending are Dot Foods, County Market, Lowe's, Quincy Workforce Center, Carthage System and Professional Swine Management, Kohl Wholesale, Members First Community Credit Union, Mark Twain Casino, JWCC's TRiO Upward Bound Program, Bergner's, Hannibal Regional Health System, Manpower, KHQA and Willowcare Center.
Kristen Johnson of JWCC's career services program said job seekers attending are encouraged to bring resumes and to dress in business casual attire.
