Inside the matchup: The Pioneers suffered a 62-57 overtime loss at Sterling on Tuesday, ending their six-game winning streak. Among those first six wins was a 51-45 victory over United Township in the WB6 opener, a game in wich Alleman outscored UT 16-6 in the final quarter behind a 13-of-15 showing at the free-throw line. Senior guard Saurabh Patwal is averaging 17 points per game and is coming off a 6-of-10 shooting performance from 3-point range against Sterling. Patwal has made 28 of 57 3-pointers overall (49.1 percent) as the Pioneers are making nearly nine 3-pointers per game. Senior forward Andrew Barrett is averaging 14 points per game. Last week's loss at Moline makes it a little more challenging for the Blue Devils to contend for a WB6 title, but neither the Blue Devils nor Quincy coach Andy Douglas are unaccustomed to coming from behind to win a WB6 title. In 1999-2000, when Douglas was a senior, the Blue Devils lost their first two WB6 games and then won eight straight to win the title.
