MONROE CITY, Mo. -- A former paraprofessional teacher aide with the Monroe City School District has pleaded guilty to the attempted enticement of a child.

Jeremy K. McClusky, 39, of Monroe City has pleaded guilty and will serve a 15-year sentence in the Missouri Department of Corrections, said Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton in a news release Wednesday. McClusky must complete the Missouri Sex Offender Treatment Program and must register as a sex offender for life.

McClusky was accused of soliciting a child under the age of 15 and was arrested on Sept. 8, 2017. The allegations stemmed from text messages reportedly exchanged between McClusky and a student.

Clayton said a forensic extraction of the phone was performed.

"The family has been apprised of all the updates in the case. They are in agreement with this sentence. It will spare the young victim of having to relive the experience," Clayton said. "Now the victim and her family can move forward, especially knowing that the defendant will never again be in a position to use his authority to access children."
