MADISON, Mo. -- A Madison man was injured in a Tuesday morning crash in Monroe County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 2005 Freightliner driven by Melvin L. Messer, 80, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, was westbound on U.S. 24, 1 mile west of Madison, at 9:33 a.m. The patrol said the Freightliner attempted to pass a westbound 2011 Dodge 1500 pickup making a left turn and struck the Dodge's driver's side door.

The driver of the Dodge, Larry D. Arp, 60, of Madison, was treated for minor injuries at Moberly Regional Medical Center in Moberly.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the patrol, which was assisted at the scene by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.
