College game preview: Illinois-Springfield at Quincy University

Records: Illinois-Springfield -- 11-4 (3-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference). Quincy -- 4-10 (0-5 GLVC).

Inside the matchup: Following Thursday night's 61-59 victory over Missouri-St. Louis, the Prairie Stars have won five of their last six games, including their first two GLVC Central Division matchups. The Prairie Stars rank in the top half of the league in both scoring offense (81.2 ppg) and scoring defense (70.1 ppg). Illinois-Springfield and Quincy are the two worst 3-point shooting teams in the league at 33.7 and 30.5 percent, respectively. Senior guard Eddie Longmeyer, who had 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists against UMSL, is the Prairie Stars' leading scorer and rebounder at 17.7 points and eight rebounds per game. Longmeyer also leads Illinois-Springfield in assists and steals. Former Pittsfield and John Wood Community College standout Wayde Smith has played in seven games for the Prairie Stars and is averaging 1.4 points per game. This is the first of four games the Hawks play in the next eight days, all coming against Central Division foes. It is QU's first game since a 83-43 drubbing by Maryville. Junior guard Demetrius Houston leads the Hawks at 13.4 points per game, while junior forward Marcus Hinton is averaging 11.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game.
