QUINCY -- Quincy University has formed a presidential search committee to select the school's 24th president.
A news release from the university said the committee was formed to find a successor to President Phil Conover, who will serve at QU through May 2019. The committee expects to announce the next president in early 2019.
QU Board member Michael McClain will lead the committee. The committee comprises 21 members, including university staff and faculty, students, board members, clergy, alumni and community members.
Conover, 73, has played an integral role in the university's financial recovery that began in 2016. He was interim chief operations officer and was named president after Robert Gervasi resigned last year to become president of Ohio Dominican University.
Conover previously was the interim president of the Great River Economic Development Foundation, vice president of instruction at John Wood Community College, dean of students and assistant principal at Quincy Notre Dame High School, and financial adviser at Blunt Ellis & Loewi and Wachovia Securities. He also has taught and coached at several high schools.
